The NAEP Data ToolKit provides two components that facilitate the analysis of NAEP secondary-use data. The PC-based NAEP data extraction software, NAEPEX, enables users to create customized extracts of NAEP data and to generate SAS or SPSS control statements for preparing analyses or generating customized system files. The NAEP analysis modules, which currently run under SPSS versions 8.0, 9.0, and 10.0 for Microsoft Windows, use output files from the extraction software to perform analyses that incorporate statistical procedures appropriate for the NAEP design.
