NAEP Technical DocumentationStudent Response Rates and Exclusion Rates

The following table presents the overall weighted response rates and exclusion rates for the fourth- and eighth-grade State NAEP samples. The weighted response rates give the weighted percentage of assessed students as a percentage of all students to be assessed. The SD exclusion rates give the weighted percentage of students who have disabilities (SD) and are excluded because of that as a percentage of all sampled students, and the LEP exclusion rates give the weighted percentage of students who are limited-English-proficient (LEP) and are excluded because of that as a percentage of all sampled students. (Note that some students may be both SD and LEP, so that the sum of these two rates is not the percentage of all excluded students.) All weighted rates utilize the student base weights.
