NAEP Technical DocumentationYear-Round School Adjustment for the 2000 National Main Assessment

The year-round adjustment factor applies only to students in year-round schools. In year-round schools, only a portion of the total student body is in school at any given point in time. The year-round adjustment factor inflates the weight to account for students that were on break at the time of student sampling. It is calculated as

YRRND underscore FC equals 1 divided by open paren 1 minus PCT underscore OFF divided by 100 close paren

where PCT_OFF is the percentage of students that were on break at the time of student sampling. Students not in year-round schools are assigned the year-round adjustment factor of 1.0.
