NAEP Technical DocumentationSchool Nonresponse Adjustment Factor Calculation for the 2005 Assessment

In each final school nonresponse adjustment cell c, the school nonresponse adjustment factor   SCH_NRAFjs(c) for each school s in jurisdiction j was computed as follows:

SCH underscore NRAF subscript js open paren c close paren equals summation with underscript open paren S subscript j open paren c close paren close paren open paren SCH underscore BWT subscript js times SCH underscore TRIM subscript js times SCHSESWT subscript js times X subscript js close paren divided by summation with underscript open paren R subscript j open paren c close paren close paren open paren SCH underscore BWT subscript js times SCH underscore TRIM subscript js times SCHSESWT subscript js times X subscript js close paren

where

  • Sj(c) is the set of all eligible sampled schools (cooperating original and substitute schools, and refusing original schools with noncooperating or no assigned substitute) in cell c in jurisdiction j,

  • Rj(c) is the set of all cooperating schools within Sj(c),

  • SCH_BWTjs is the school base weight for school s in jurisdiction j,

  • SCH_TRIMjs is the school-level weight trimming factor for school s in jurisdiction j,

  • SCHSESWTjs is the school-level session assignment weight for school s in jurisdiction j, and
