The cells for nonresponse adjustments are generally functions of the school sampling strata. Sampling strata definitions differ for public and private schools.

Public Schools

For public school samples, initial weighting cells were formed using the following nesting cell structure:

Private Schools

For private school samples, initial weighting cells were formed using the following nesting cell structure:

  • affiliation (Catholic or non-Catholic),
  • census region, and
  • collapsed urbanicity (collapsed urban-centric locale) stratum.
