In the first sample response, the student offers reasonable interpretations of the work, and makes several substantive references to aspects of the work to support his or her interpretations.

The second response, while far less articulate, offers an interesting interpretation and defends that interpretation with several references to the work, including "regularity," "motherhood," the "common working man," the chair leg, and the eagle.
