NAEP Technical DocumentationStudent Group "Gender" Used in NAEP Data Analysis

The variable gender (identified as SEX) is the gender of the student being assessed, as taken from school records. For a few students, data for this variable was missing and was imputed after the assessment. The resulting variable (DSEX) contains a value for every student and is used for gender comparisons among students.
