During the preassessment period, School Coordinators are provided with online school questionnaires and teacher questionnaires. Field staff request that the School Coordinator encourage school staff to complete the online questionnaires by assessment day.

Automatic reminders are sent weekly to respondents who have not completed their questionnaires. Field staff monitor online questionnaire completion and prepare hardcopy questionnaires to bring to the school on assessment day if the online versions are not completed by then.

If hardcopy questionnaires are distributed to school staff and field staff learn on assessment day that there are questionnaires that have not been completed, they ask the School Coordinator to have school staff complete and return questionnaires before field staff depart. If this is not feasible, field staff provide the School Coordinator with a postage-paid envelope in which completed questionnaires can be returned to NAEP.
