The following table gives the final sampling parameter¹ b_j for the 2002 national main assessments' private school strata. The methodology for computing b_j from the targets T_j for each stratum (as given in Target Fourth-Grade Private School Sample Sizes, Target Eighth-Grade Private School Sample Sizes, Target Twelfth-Grade Private School Sample Sizes) is discussed in Computation of School Measures of Size.

¹The sampling parameter can be viewed as the marginal increase in the probability of selection of a school for each extra enrolled student, up to the maximum student sample size for the school. A value of .001 for this sampling parameter means that all other things being equal an increase of 10 enrolled students (without exceeding the cutoff) increases the probability of selection for the school by 0.01. The subscript j indicates private school stratum.
