Within each doublet preliminary stratum, the first student was assigned as the first variance unit and the second student as the second variance unit. Within each triplet preliminary stratum, the three students were assigned variance units 1 through 3. Given R_r as the students within the r-th replicate stratum, and U_k as the variance unit (1 or 2), the replicate factors w_k(r), r = 1,...,R, are computed as follows:
